Aaou is a comprehensive hieroglyph dictionary currently encompassing over 23,000 words. It serves as a valuable resource for locating the most commonly used terms. New words are continuously being added (collaboration via email is encouraged).

You have the option to search using hieroglyphs, transliterations, or translations. The screen conveniently displays the number of matching words in the top left corner. For more precise results, it is advisable to select a minimum of 2 hieroglyphs or 2 transliteration letters. When conducting a search by transliteration, strict alphabetical order must be followed.

Unlike searching by transliteration, when searching by hieroglyphs, the order of the hieroglyphs is not crucial. You can add a hieroglyph by selecting the "+" button or remove it by using the "–" button.

For user convenience, the total number of displayed words is capped at 50 to prevent excessively long lists. Searching with 3 hieroglyphs ensures very limited results.

Settings

The language selection between French and English is automated and based on your device's language setting. To change the language manually, navigate to settings ➜ general ➜ international ➜ language.

To adjust the transliteration mode (such as switching between mode j & q or i & k), access settings ➜ Aaou ➜ choose transliteration mode.
